About Us
Simple. Sunny. Sustainable. That’s our business.
Eco Packaging
No crappy plastic from China. All packaging is produced in USA: glass, metal, biostone, unbleached kraft paper, tree-free paper, reused materials, post-consumer recycled paper.
Slavery Not Welcome
We research the heck out of the origins of our materials. We won't buy ingredients or packaging from companies who engage in human slavery or other forms of exploitation.
Climate Optimists
We create great goods and ethical alternatives to toxic products packaged in junky plastic. In the words of Gandhi, "You must be the change you want to see in the world."
Women-Owned
Two ladies -- one of which is disabled -- run the business. No glass ceiling, here. We own our ceiling. In fact, we built the ceiling ourselves. Out of recycled glass.

The origins of Sunlit Mountain are quite simple.
It all started with a headache. Then it turned into a business.
Headaches, watery eyes, nausea, rash, and dizziness have been my body’s usual response to mainstream hand soaps, shampoos, shaving creams, dishwashing liquids, laundry detergents, and other household cleaners.
So nearly two decades ago, I began making my own quality goods using raw, pure ingredients. It was an act of practicality and necessity.
For years, I was content with formulating my homemade products for myself, family, and friends. Easy peasy. A fun hobby of sorts.
Meanwhile, the outside world was shifting…
Consumers started demanding that manufacturers stop using garbage ingredients. There was also a push for sustainable packaging.
Companies responded to customers’ needs for less toxic formulations by launching new so-called “green” product lines. But corporations failed miserably at utilizing truly eco-friendly plastic-free packaging.
So I solved the problem.
I created Sunlit Mountain to bring forth great goods for bath, body, beauty, and home… and to package those goods in simple eco-friendly packaging, 99% of which is plastic-free.
Simple. Sunny. Sustainable. That’s our business.
We’re fervent about sticking to our mission. For example, do you know of any other company aside from Sunlit Mountain who produces hand sanitizer in a glass bottle? I don’t.
This high level of commitment towards creating exceptional natural products in recyclable, reusable, and/or biodegradable packaging can be found in all our merchandise. Explore more by taking a trek to the Sunlit Mountain store.

Head Creative Brain
Sarah’s a bit shy about putting her photo here. This picture will have to suffice. Sarah does most of the writing, design, and creative strategy for Sunlit Mountain.
She has two dogs, loves comedy, and enjoys Mittleider gardening.
An Interesting Twist
Sarah is a flexible pretzel, figuring out creative ways to contribute whilst bandaged and braced up, for she’s a bendy bot aka copes with joint hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (not her identity).
EDS is a rare genetic connective tissue disorder. Akin to brittle bone syndrome in which bones break easily, EDS affects connective tissue which tears easily.
In Sarah’s case, this leads to hyper-flexibility, thus causing frequent joint strains, sprains, dislocations, and torn ligaments. Sarah finds solace in the Colorado sunshine.
